What is Govardhan puja?
Govardhan Puja, also known as Annakut or Annakoot (meaning “mountain of food”), is a significant Hindu festival celebrated on the first lunar day of the bright fortnight of the month of Kartika, which falls on the fourth day of Diwali. This puja commemorates the divine act of Lord Krishna lifting the Govardhan Hill to protect the villagers of Vrindavan from torrential rains sent by Lord Indra.
